An organisation helping entrepreneurs get on their feet is nearing a major milestone.

The Business Factory, North Tyneside Council’s enterprise programme, looks set to celebrate its 1,000th new business start-up this month.

And to mark the landmark additional business support and equipment will be offered to the new venture – either a purpose-built company website and an initial online marketing campaign, or a suite of marketing materials together with free press advertising.

Over the past 28 months, at least one new business has been established daily with the help and support of advisers.

Coun Frank Lott, cabinet member with responsibility for business support, said: “We are totally committed to supporting and encouraging enterprise across the borough, and The Business Factory continues to be instrumental in doing this.

“It is quite phenomenal to think we are about to reach our 1000th milestone – that is an awful lot of new businesses.

“In addition to this, the introduction of specialist support for potential high growth businesses and those operating in the business to business sector has changed the landscape for business start-ups.”
