Budding footballers have been kitted out in new strips thanks to support from a local teaching organisation.

Monkseaton High School are continuing to get support for its football academy from teaching supply agency First Class.

The organisation, also based in Whitley Bay, has been able to upgrade the academy’s equipment – including 36 new home and away kits – through its sponsorship while also help with running costs.

The Academy, which won the All England Cup in 2006 and reached the final again in 2013, is having another successful season this year after progressing in their domestic competitions.

Professional footballers Lee Novak and Paul Farman, who play for Birmingham City and Lincoln City respectively, are products of the Monkseaton Football Academy, with more than 25 former graduates achieving four year scholarships at universities in the USA.

Lee Picton, head football coach at Monkseaton High School, said: “The Academy is hugely grateful to First Class Supply for its generous sponsorship.

“We are looking to upgrade our equipment and this will allow us to do so, and it will also help with travel for away fixtures.

“The Academy is having another successful season so far, which is being assisted by this important support.”

Lesley Robinson, co-director at First Class Supply, said: “As a local company, we are delighted to be sponsoring Monkseaton’s Football Academy, which is a well-known and successful training ground for students both on and off the pitch.

“We hope the new kit will help to make everyone proud of their team and spur them onto further success.

“It is an exciting partnership with Monkseaton High School Football Academy and we would like to wish them all the best for the rest of the season.”
