A leading offshore specialist has picked up the highest accolade for business success.

North Shields-based AIS received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for its international trade in recognition of its success in the UK and overseas.

Over the past three years, the company has grown by 120 per cent and established additional bases in the Caribbean, Aberdeen, Middle East, Kazakhstan and Humberside.

AIS works closely with the global energy, maritime and heavy industry sectors to find solutions to common problems, such as how to reduce costs, improve safety and overcome skill shortages.

The company has a state-of-the-art manufacturing centre, specialist training village and onsite hotel on North Tyneside.
