An appeal has been launched to help a station light up this Christmas.
A joint initiative has been started to raise funds for Whitley Bay Metro station to be lit up for the first time.
Friends of Station Road are working alongside Whitley Bay Big Local on the fundraising initiative, with design options being drawn up with North Tyneside Council.
A Space Hive funding page has been set up to receive donations, with officials hoping to raise £6,000 to cover the cost of the lights for this year and future years.
And in a further boost, tickets for The Big Little Lottery will be available to buy in shops. Tickets cost £1 with the winner receiving half the prize money with the other half going towards the lights.
The draw will be on November 28, where the lights will be turned on for the first time.
