A community hub which helps people find work has been given a cash boost.

Meadow Well Connected, based at The Meadows in North Shields, is among 16 North East organisations to share more than £15,000 from the Esh Group.

The funding is part of the construction firm’s Esh Communities scheme, which hands out the funds following an application process.

Darush Dodds, head of corporate responsibility and added value at Esh Group, said: “This year’s recipients of Esh Communities funding are already doing some fantastic work in their communities.

“It’s a privilege for Esh Group to contribute to their efforts particularly because adding value to the communities in which we work is such an important guiding principle of the business.”

Esh Communities was launched in 2012 and has so far supplied more than £140,000 to community groups.

The scheme is supported by Esh Charitable Trust and is open to groups who operate across Esh Group’s regions with innovative approaches to tackling community issues.

This year a total of £41,833 has been given in grants to 48 projects and organisations across the North East, North West, Yorkshire and Scotland.
