An actress who worked at a Tynemouth cafe has been selected to attend the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London.
Catherine Dryden, 25, from Chester-le-Street, has gained one of only 28 places out of 3,650 applicants and is the only representative from the north east.
She has been a member of Chester-le-Street Theatre Group junior section from the age of three.
In 2013 Catherine appeared in the UK national tour of Lee Hall’s award winning Broadway play ‘The Pitmen Painters’ as Susan Parks the painters model.
The three-year Acting BA degree course at RADA starts in September.
Catherine said: “I am truly honoured for this amazing opportunity. I know RADA will enable me to achieve my full potential. It’s a dream come true. The support I have had in the north east has been amazing.”
