A BOROUGH facility is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a community event.
Howdon Children’s Centre, which was recently rated as ‘outstanding in every area’ by Ofsted, will host the event on Saturday, March 26, between 11am and 2pm.
Special guest, Newcastle Falcons player Mickey Ward, will kick-start celebrations and a number of children’s favourite cartoon characters will be dropping by for a visit.

Families with young children are being urged to go along and enjoy the fun, as well as learn about what the centre has to offer.
Activities include face painting, balloon modelling, hook-a-duck, arts and crafts, tombolas, raffles, teddy stalls, fruit and smoothie tasting sessions, an old fashioned popcorn stand.
Entertainment will be provided by the North Tyneside Steel Band and Sea Cadets Display Band.
Visitors will also be able to chat to existing members and volunteers to find out what the centre has achieved in its ten years.
Howdon Children’s Centre manager Gillian Darby said: “This event is for all of our community who have children up to the age of five, and we’d especially like to see some new faces, and meet those who haven’t used the centre before.”
