A DROP-in session is being lined up for next week so travellers can find out more about plans to modernise Howdon Metro station.
Transport operator Nexus is holding the session on Wednesday at the Sure Start children’s centre, in Howdon Lane – just a short walk north from the station – from 2pm to 7pm.
People will have the chance to speak to Nexus staff on a one-to-one basis about the proposed redevelopment of the station as part of the £385m Metro: All Change programme to modernise the network over the next 11 years.
Nexus staff will also be able to answer questions about the forthcoming 23-day line closure between Byker and Tynemouth, from Saturday, March 12, to Sunday, April 3.
A works compound will be located behind platform two at the station for the duration of the line closure.
Ken Mackay, director of rail and infrastructure for Nexus, said: “This is a chance for residents to find out more about our plans for Howdon Metro station.
“It will also give people the chance to talk to our staff on a one-to-one basis about the 23-day line closure.
“One of our work sites for the line closure is going to be situated near Howdon station.
“The drop-in session will give people the chance to find out what will be taking place there once the work gets under way.”
