RESIDENTS are being reminded to check a restaurant’s food hygiene rating before booking their Christmas dinner.
The national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme rates eateries and other places that sell food on their hygiene standards, based on inspections carried out by North Tyneside Council.
Ratings can be found online, via a Smartphone app or on the green and black ‘rating’ sticker that businesses are encouraged to display.
Inspections in North Tyneside have shown 86 per cent of restaurants have a satisfactory or better level of food hygiene. Ratings can be checked online at www.food.gov.uk/ratings
