A community choir based in the borough has created a special Christmas CD to raise cash for charity.

Linskill community Choir started a year ago, and has enjoyed great success.

At around the same time, the group heard of a new venture started by Joanne Burn and Kerry Lister Pattinson who were raising funds to help people in our area who were living on the streets, called Making Winter Warmer For Those Without.

Irene Anderson from the choir, said: “One of their first fund raising projects was having some of their members sing Carols in Eldon Square.

“Our members were keen to get involved but we were too late for that year so we decided to record a CD of our favourite songs and Christmas Carols in time for the festive season this year.

“Y studios in North Shields offered to help us out and about 90 of us packed into the studio to get our very first taste of the recording process, and record A Ray of Hope CD.”

Linskill Community Choir will be performing in events around the borough including the Victorian Christmas Market and North Shields Library on December 14, and the Christmas Family Big Sing at Linskill Community Centre on December 22 at 6.30pm. CDs will be available at all events for £5 each with profits going to Making Winter Warmer.
