THE choir of St Cuthbert’s Parish Church in Blyth is preparing a new programme of music and words for Easter.
The group is presenting The Story of the Cross on Good Friday at 6pm in the church, and will also be providing music for the Easter Sunday service at 9.30am.
And to mark the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible, all of the supporting readings on Good Friday will be taken from this edition.
Choirmaster Dave Cooper said St Cuthbert’s is fortunate to have such a full choir and also the dedicated support of church organist Ann Pearson.
“It’s something not many churches can call upon these days, which is a great pity,” he said.
“We look forward to Eastertide, even though it’s hard work preparing, because filling our church with the sound of music is such a great way to lift everybody’s spirits.”
Plans are also in place to start a young people’s gospel choir at St Cuthbert’s.
