ON Saturday, February 9, 2013, I will be conducting a concert promoted by the New Tyneside Orchestra which will be held to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Care.
The concert will be dedicated to the memory of Gill Harrison, who was a member of Holy Saviour’s Church in Tynemouth, for many years as well as being active in local music making.
The concert will take place at Cullercoats Methodist Church, The Broadway, Cullercoats, beginning at 7.30pm.
Admission will be free, and a retiring collection will be made in support of Macmillan Cancer Care.
The all-Mozart programme will include: Overture: The Magic Flute: Sinfonia Concertante for oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon, Adagio and Fugue for String Orchestra and, in the second half, a complete performance of the Requiem in D minor.
The orchestra will mainly comprise members of the New Tyneside Orchestra and will be led by Jenny Williams. All I need now is a choir.
The Requiem will be presented on a ‘bring it and sing it’ basis, and this letter is aimed at starting to recruit singers for this venture.
Choir members will need to commit the whole of Saturday, February 9, to the concert – I am not proposing to call any choir rehearsals beforehand.
Music will be provided well in advance to anyone who asks for it.
If you would like to sing, or know someone else who might like to, or can give me contact details for local choirs and singers, then please contact me as soon as you can.
Please use any of the contact details below to get in touch.
We will also need an audience – so please book the date now.
