Youngsters were on song as they helped shoppers get into the festive spirit.

Visitors to the Beacon Shopping Centre, in North Shields, and Wallsend’s Forum Shopping Centre were treated to primary school children singing a range of Christmas songs.

Students from Waterville Primary School visited the Beacon while those from Carville Primary School performed at the Forum.

Nick Lambert, centre manager at The Forum, said: “The children definitely bring on the Christmas cheer in a whole different way.

“We thank the participating schools for their time and wonderful contribution to the festive season here at The Forum, and look forward to hosting more performances.”

David Menzies, centre manager at The Beacon, said: “The Beacon is at the heart of North Shields and it is lovely to see children from the community get involved. At this important time of the year, we are delighted to offer our customers all their Christmas shopping and a range of festive events under one roof.”

Both shopping centres are hosting a number of Christmas-themed events throughout the month, including Grottos where Santa is available to meet and greet the community.
