A young mother received an unexpected gift on Christmas Day – a bouncing baby boy.
Renee Tote had not been due to give birth until January 5, but was taken to Wansbeck General Hospital in Ashington on Christmas Eve due to high blood pressure.
And after doctors told her she would be induced, the 21-year-old gave birth to a 4lb 12oz boy – who she has called Dominic – at 2.10am.
Renee, 21, of Whitley Bay, said: “He is my first child.
“I had high blood pressure which was making him too small so the hospital decided to induce me.
“It was a big surprise to know I was going to be giving birth to him on Christmas Day.
“He has been brilliant so far.
“My family have all seen him but my friends are still dying to have a little look at him.
“I’ve been in a bit of pain but he has been no bother although he has been keeping me up at night from time to time.”
