Fund-raisers are looking to support a charity helping people with dementia.

Friends of St John’s Methodist Church, in Whitley Bay, are taking a stall at Tynemouth Station market to raise money for pARTners Art Group, which holds art classes for people living with dementia.

The stall event – part of a year-long fund-raising campaign to raise funds for pARTners – will be open between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, selling a wide range of arts and crafts, and bric a brac.

Organiser Tony Farrar said: “It’s amazing what people have been discovering hidden away in attics and elsewhere. The market at Tynemouth Station is always a fun place to be, but we hope what we will have for sale can make it an even better experience and provide support for the work of pARTners.”

The pARTners classes take place at North Shields Methodist Church, Hawkeys Lane on Wednesday mornings and all equipment, materials and tuition is free of charge.

The aim is to create a warm, caring environment in which people with dementia can use the medium of art to express themselves.
