A SCHEME which helps young children to bond with their mothers has hit the right note after securing a national award.
Shannon Browning, from North Shields, is celebrating after her class for pre-school children was voted the very best in Whitley Bay.
The Sing and Sign class, which has run at Runamokka in the town for the last three years, see parents bond with their babies through sign and song.
The class won the top prize in the national awards from parenting site Netmums.com
The group beat off competition from dozens of other classes in the area – and will be listed as the region’s best on the Netmums website.
Sing and Sign classes run at various locations throughout North Tyneside and Gosforth and are open to babies from six months to 24 months.
Parents praised the class not just for being friendly and the highlight of their children’s week but for enabling them to learn to communicate with their children pre-speech.
Shannon will now receive a certificate from Netmums editor Leanne McNulty.
Shannon, 42, said: “It’s such an honor to be given this amazing Netmums award, as its voted for by the parents who come to the classes, they are the ones that put in all the hard work, I just get to sing and play with their little ones.
“I love running the classes, it’s fantastic to know the parents and children enjoy it as much as I do.”
Netmums founder Siobhan Freegard added: “Pre-school classes are one of the very best ways to bond with your child and provide hours of fun for all the family.
“We were very impressed by the high standard of classes in Whitley Bay but Shannon’s Sing and Sign class was a worthy winner.”
