ALMOST £500 was raised for the Great North Air Ambulance (GNAA) during a two-day collection at a Whitley Bay supermarket.

The Rotary Club of Tynemouth collected £497.93 at Morrisons in Hillheads Road.

President Bryan Rayner said: “We know that the GNAA is entirely dependant on the support of the public in keeping its helicopters in the air and they are one of the main charities in our rotary year.

“They certainly deserve as much support as we and the public can give them.”
