WALLSEND Boys’ Club is launching its first ever Mini Soccer Football Festival and tournament being held later this month.
The new home of the football club, Bigges Main in Rhedyt Avenue, will host teams from all over the region on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The tournament is sponsored by Next2Buy property retailers and will see the under-7s compete on the Saturday morning and under-8s in the afternoon in a seven-a-side Festival of Football which will be run on a round robin basis.
Each player will receive a medal for participating.
On the Sunday the under-9s will take start in the morning before finishing on the Monday morning, with the last of the mini soccer years under-10s.
These two age groups will consist of four groups of four, the first and second in each going into the quarter-finals, with the third and fourth placed teams going into the last eight of the subsidiary competition.
Individual trophies will be given to all finalists in the cup competitions and medals for the losing semi-finalists.
Places are still available but are limited and are filling up quickly with the entry fee £30 per team.
Boys within the Wallsend Boys’ Club sides will have progressed through the club’s development sessions, which are run by Ian Riley from the age of four years.
The festival will not only see displays of football but will have various sponsors in attendance, such as Karen Blight and Lorna Sayers from next2buy, and children’s activities such as bouncy castles and fun games.
