More than £30,000 has been awarded to help four community groups in the borough.
The Big Lottery Fund’s North East Awards for All has seen the cash go to groups across the north east, including four in North Tyneside.
The Park View Project was given £10,000 to set up a local information network that will create new volunteering opportunities through a new network, which will enable members of the community to access information on services, training opportunities and social networks.
The Percy Main Allotment Association also received £10,000 ,which will be used to replace and repair the inner boundary fencing and pathways on its allotment site.
Beacon Hill School in Wallsend will benefit from a grant of £8,158 for volunteer training for school leavers and final year students.
And the Friends of Wallsend Imagine will use their £3,210 funding to explore the possibility of establishing a new school based on enquiry-based learning by having consultations, running learning activity sessions and compiling a report of their findings, which will enable the organisation to assess the viability of a new school which will increase aspirations.
