A business has received golden recognition for taking part in a project the enables local companies to work with voluntary and community groups.

YourPrintDepartment, based in Howard Street, North Shields, was the first business to receive the Gold standard in Sector Connector’s Community-Friendly Business Awards.

YourPrintDepartment really deserve this award – they’ve been on board with the project practically from day one and have helped numerous small groups along the way.

Sector Connector – run by North Tyneside Voluntary Organisations Development Agency (VODA) – brokers relationships between businesses that have skills, time or expertise they can share with community organisations.

YourPrintDepartment have not only offered discounted packages to local charities but they have also delivered two free workshops giving advice on print and design.

Owner Rob Gibbons said: “We’re delighted to be the first recipients of the Gold Award. It’s been a pleasure to be involved in Sector Connector and to be able to offer help and support to voluntary groups.”

“For us it’s a way of meeting new clients and showing that we care about the community we work in, plus there’s a definite feel-good factor of being able to ‘give something back’.”

“This is what Sector Connector is all about.

“It’s very much a two-way street – the groups get access to professional businesses and services, often at a discounted rate, while those businesses can demonstrate that they care about their community and meet new customers in the process.”
