A new group has been formed to support and develop art, culture and heritage activities in and around the Spanish City Dome.
‘Under the Dome’ has been set up in Whitley Bay to build on the success last year of a small community festival.
Officials have marked their launch with a competition to design a new logo for the group – and the winner will receive £100.
Hard copies of the entry should be on A4 and sent to Under the Dome, 11 Ventnor Gardens, Whitley Bay, NE26 1QB.
Entries can also be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
Closing date is Friday, April 19. Entries should include name, age, address and contact details.

The group has been formed to organise community-based events which celebrate the creativity and energy of local people, and bring leading practitioners to perform at the Coast.
The next major event for the group will be a festival, using the Dome and the new plaza, taking place from July 18 to 27, and will include theatre, dance and musical shows and workshops.
Co-ordinator Gerry Beldon said: “I think it’s great to see the energy of local actors, writers, musicians and artists coming together for this festival.
“There is a vibrant local scene, and this festival will focus attention on all the great stuff that goes on every day.”
