I would like to congratulate the committee of the Earsdon and Wellfield Flower, Vegetable and Handicraft Show for organising the 50th annual event, which took place last Saturday in Earsdon Community Centre.
And I would also like to thank all those who took part.
I have visited the show on several occasions and I was delighted to be invited to open it in this golden anniversary year.
There were many entries, with numerous categories including fruit, vegetables, flowers, photography and handicrafts.
My colleague, Coun Pam McIntyre, and I enjoyed looking at the entries and exhibits.
The baking for the afternoon teas was marvellous, a wonderful spread of cakes, scones, pies and sandwiches. Mary Berry could have found no faults.
Many thanks to all involved. Such community events require a lot of hard work but the effort is much appreciated, and I hope the show will go from strength to strength.
