Two members of Tynemouth Scouts have been recognised for gaining the Queen’s Scout Award, the highest award available in the Scout Association.

Emma McGuinness and Paul Cherry joined other Queen’s Scout award recipients in a parade at Windsor Castle in front of The Duchess of Cambridge and chief scout Bear Grylls.

To gain this top award, Explorer Scouts must either hold a Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s award or complete a series of five challenges, some of which must be completed over a 12 month period.

There are then further international, environmental and values based tasks as well as some more traditional Scouting skills based tasks to complete on top of these.
