A North Shields man needed hospital treatment after three masked men attacked him in a house in Ripley Avenue.
It happened at approximately 11.30pm, on Monday, March 31, when three men entered a house armed with a small bat and hammer and attacked the 35-year-old male resident.
He suffered a cut to his ear and was taken to North Tyneside District General Hospital by ambulance and released after treatment.
The offenders are described as masked men wearing dark clothing.
Nothing was stolen during the incident.
Police are carrying out enquiries in the area and additional officers are on patrol to reassure the community.
Police are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
