Three people have been arrested after a man was found dead in a North Shields house.
Police were called to a property in Stanley Street at 2.21pm on Friday, May 10, after concerns were expressed for a man inside.
Officers attended and found the body of a 22-year-old man inside.
A murder investigation was launched and at 6am on May 11, officers arrested a 17-year-old boy and two men, aged 18 and 22, all from the North Shields area.
All three remain in police custody and are currently helping police with enquiries.
North Tyneside Chief Superintendent Steve Neill said: “We have extra uniformed officers in the area around Stanley Street today to speak to and reassure local residents.
“If anyone has any concerns or wants to speak to police they can do so in person or by ringing their local Neighbourhood Policing Team.
“Detectives continue to carry out enquiries into the death and although arrests have been made, it’s still vital that anyone with any information contacts us and passes anything on as soon as possible.
“We are especially keen to hear from anyone who might have seen anything or anyone suspicious in Stanley Street in the days leading up to this incident and I’d ask them to contact us.
“At this stage there is nothing to suggest there is any risk to the wider public or local residents, and we believe the incident has happened inside the address.”
People can speak to officers face to face in the area, ring 101 extension 69191 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
