SCORES of people gathered inside Tynemouth Station on Saturday morning to take in a steel band as Saturday’s Mouth of the Tyne festivities got under way.
The North Tyneside Steel Band played a number of songs for onlookers, who had come into the station specifically to take in the music.
Parents and their children could be seen dancing along with the beat of the songs as the band went through a number of contemporary hits.
Despite the weather being cloudy and the threat of rain at some point throughout the day, there were plenty of families in the station, enjoying the music from the band and taking in the stalls that packed out the inside of the Tynemouth Station.
Festivities continue throughout the day, with Front Street closed off ahead of The Wanted performing at the Priory tonight.
There are also street activities and performances on Front Street throughout the day, starting from 12pm and going on right through the afternoon until 4.30pm.
