A popular festival celebrating the Portugese and Spanish speaking cultures is preparing for its grand finale in Tynemouth.
¡VAMOS! Festival, now in its eighth year, has a series of programmes taking place for its final week.
Among them are the Mexican Wrestling, which will see wrestlers battle it out at the Boiler Shop, Newcastle’s latest arts and culture venue, on Saturday, July 13, at 6pm.
And the festival will culminate on Sunday with a free party on the beach at Crusoes in Tynemouth featuring some of South America’s best DJs including Monntunno, Alx Alfaro, Coco Vega, Paco Rivera and Carlitos.
A spokesperson said: “We are obviously super excited about the Mexican Wrestling on the closing weekend of the festival this year, but before the masked men’s battle commences, we will also be offering an amazing series of workshops from 5pm including a Mexican map reading and exploration workshop.
“We have a Piñata making class, which will then culminate in a big bashing session before the wrestling. The Made In Jesmond gift shop will also deliver two workshops inspired by the Mexican Day of The Dead holiday – where guests will be shown how to make their own cushions and artefacts.”
