I WOULD like to thank customers at Morrisons Preston Grange, Asda Gosforth, Sainsbury’s Monkseaton and Asda Benton for their generous responses to our can collections last week when the magnificent total of £3,425.88 was raised.

I would also like to thank the management and staff.

The money raised will be shared between the British Red Cross and Callum’s Wish To Walk to help pay for seven-year-old Callum Brown to go to the United States to undergo a life-changing operation that, hopefully, will enable him to stand and walk for the first time.

Callum was born with cerebral palsy and his story is on www.callumswishtowalk.co.uk

In the current difficult financial circumstances, it is extremely important that voluntary organisations redouble their efforts to help worthwhile causes.

This is only possible with the generous help of members of the general public.

Angels of the North is a registered charity that provides medical aid and the relief of hardship through grants, goods and services to those in need and is a full member of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations and the Fundraising Standards Board.
