An account manager from Whitley Bay is hoping 13 is lucky for him as he plans to take on 13 challenges to raise a staggering £13,000 for charity.
Dave Knowles has already successfully completed a Tough Guy eight-mile assault course and 14-mile Dent Run, and is now gearing up for a Yorkshire Three Peaks race, a 140 mile coast to coast cycle, Edinburgh Marathon and the London Triathlon to raise money for the the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).
His 13th challenge will be 13 marathons in 13 days running from Newcastle to Nelson’s Column in London.
Dave recently married Danielle whose mum, Linda Embleton, was sadly lost to motor neurone disease in 2008.
As a tribute to her memory, Dave has embarked upon these 13 challenges in 2013 to support the MNDA.
Danielle said: “I am so proud of Dave, my mum would have been so touched by everything he is doing, as I am.
“ It will be a tough challenge, and I couldn’t believe it when he said what he was going to do, but I know he can do it.’
The 13 marathon finale starts on Sunday, December 1.
Dave said: “I have raised over £4,700 so far, which shows incredible support but I have a long way to go.”
