A fundraiser has completed a hat-trick of challenges to support a charity’s work.
David Nichol, of Whitley Bay, has swam, cycled and run his way through 71 miles to support St Oswald’s Hospice.
The 36-year-old completed the Great North Swim at Lake Windermere in June. Then in August he cycled 57 miles from Seahouses to Tynemouth in the Great North Bike Ride.
The final challenge saw David joined more than 400 St Oswald’s supporters in the Great North Run.
David said: “I’ve done the Great North Run twice before for St Oswald’s. My wife works at the Hospice and suggested I run for them. I’ve been involved ever since.
“I enjoyed the Great North Swim the most, it went really well but I’m quite an active person and like to play football, so I really enjoyed all three challenges.”

Amy Slater, fundraiser at St Oswald’s, said: “We’re so grateful to David for his support of the Hospice. He should be extremely proud of his achievement, taking on three challenges is fantastic and he’s done brilliantly.
“The money David has raised will help us continue to provide care and support to local adults, young people and children and the support we receive from people around the north east is invaluable.”
