Success with their degrees proved to be a family affair with two sets of mothers and daughters among those celebrating their achievement in the classroom.
The quartet – Janice Mitchinson, 56, and her daughter Lauren Walker, 28, from Tynemouth, and Angela Richardson, 52, and her daughter Jade, 26, from Jarrow – had all studied at TyneMet College as part of their degree course.
And they were among the graduation celebrations held by the University of Sunderland after completing the Post Graduate Certificate in Education and Training course, with the college celebrating a 100 per cent pass rate.
Lauren is now teaching at the Care Quality Council.
Chris Thompson, head of preparation for life and work at TyneMet, said: “I am thrilled with these results, well done to all of our students; this fantastic achievement rate is testament to the hard work of the specialist staff that we have.”
