Staff and residents of a Whitley Bay care home are celebrating after it was named one of the top 20 establishments in the region.

Kendal House, in Park Avenue, has been providing care to residents for more than 22 years.

And now they have been awarded a certificate from carehome.co.uk for achieving recognition as a Top 20 Recommended Care Home in the North East of England.

The home received the recognition for positive reviews it had received from families and friends who had visited the establishment.

It comes on the back of the care home being rated Good by the Care Quality Commission.

Home manager Angela Oliver said: “Our staff provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

“This award has given a big boost to our staff team, residents and visitors.

“We had an unannounced inspection from The Care Quality Commission on February 14, this year, and have achieved Outstanding in care and Good overall which we are delighted with.

“We are so pleased that our service has achieved this recognition.

“We would like to thank our dedicated team of staff who are totally committed to ensuring residents’ health, happiness and emotional wellbeing are met.

“We have an Activities Co-ordinator who encourages residents to continue pursuing their hobbies and interests.

“Myself and proprietors Trevor and Liz are very grateful to everyone.”
