Disabled users’ minibus stolen then crashed

A reward is being offered after a minibus used to transport people with disabilities was stolen and crashed in North Tyneside.

Thieves stole a minibus owned by Trett Transport, specially fitted out for disabled users, that was parked outside the Killingworth Arms pub in Killingworth, sometime between 5pm on Friday, September 5, and 1am on Saturday, September 6.

Police believe the thieves stole the keys from behind the bar sometime between 5pm and midnight before returning to the pub and taking the vehicle.

The van was recovered after being crashed nearby at St Joseph’s Close.

The vehicle was badly damaged and has since been written-off by the insurance company.

The owner of Trett Transport and the Killingworth Arms have offered a £1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the theft.
