Dog playing in sea sparks rescue

Rescuers were called out after concerns were raised about a dog playing in the sea.

Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade were called to the beach at the north of St Mary’s Island at 11.15am on October 9, after a member of the public said they were going to enter the sea in an attempt to rescue their dog.

Two brigade members were able to coax the dog out of the sea and back to its owners, who were grateful for the brigade’s help.
