TWO teenagers from North Shields are cycling 1,500 miles to Africa to raise money for Oxfam.

Joe Cowen and Dom Johnson, both 19, set off last Wednesday from Amsterdam to pedal their way to Tangiers in Morocco.

Joe, a pizza chef, and Dom, a gardener, picked Oxfam as their chosen charity after seeing news reports about the west African food crisis.

The journey is expected to take a month and includes four capital cities.
