Don’t leave them isolated by the cold

With the chill of winter upon us, Action for Blind People is urging readers to spare a thought for residents with sight loss.

Many people who are blind or partially sighted find it difficult to get out and about on their own; particularly in crowded places when it is frosty and hazardous under foot, and when there is less daylight and shorter days.

They are unable to see the obstacles and dangers ahead of them.

If you know anyone who is blind or partially sighted, help make sure they are not left isolated by the cold weather.

The majority of people with sight loss are elderly and are particularly vulnerable.

Action for Blind People provides a range of services for local visually impaired people of all ages; from confidence building ‘Living with Sight Loss’ courses, to employment and welfare guidance, and how to make the most of technology to help them live independently.
