A BLYTH organisation which supports carers of people suffering from drug and alcohol addiction has received a double cash boost of £390,070.
ESCAPE Family Support was awarded the grant by the Big Lottery Fund, with the Northern Rock Foundation contributing £109,663.
The funding will guarantee the jobs of the charity’s family team as well as bringing in more staff.
The organisation, which is also celebrating being awarded the gold standard by Investors in People, will also use the grant to expand its family support programme across the county.
Charity founder Janet Murphy said: “This is a welcome boost for ESCAPE and it comes at a time of great change for us.
“I am especially proud of re-gaining the Investors in People gold standard because it is a true reflection of the dedicated work of the entire organisation.
Founded in 1995, the charity offers a range of services to help drug and alcohol users and their families on their journey to recovery.
A spokesperson from Investors in People said: “The Investors in People gold is a standard that recognises world class performance in managing and developing people.
“ESCAPE is one of the few organisation’s which has achieved and retained gold status and this is testimony of an outstanding organisation that delivers excellence through its people”
