A host of activities were held for carers to celebrate the work they do in the community.

North Tyneside Carers’ Centre kicked off Carers’ Week 2016 with an information event.

Representatives from organisations including Age UK, the Alzheimer’s Society, Grandparents Plus and North Tyneside’s Sport, Leisure and Library services offered advice to carers on their health and well-being, as well as highlighting the range of services and activities available to them.

Carers thinking about becoming volunteers were able to talk to peers and question group leaders on what it is like to be a volunteer for the centre.

Carers and volunteers were able to join Mark Barfoot, professional West African drumming teacher, in a supportive workshop introducing them to African drumming.
