IN Killingworth, students at George Stephenson High School matched last year’s record-breaking results.
The school’s 47 A-level students achieved a 99.5 per cent pass rate, with 70 per cent of grades being A to C.
Headteacher Ian Wilkinson said: “We are delighted with the results our students have achieved. It’s a testament to the hard work they have put in and the hard work of the staff.”
One of the school’s high-flyers is 18-year-old Emma Hill. She got an A* in sociology and As in English literature and psychology and will study English literature and creative writing at Northumbria University.
Matthew Hewson got Bs in history and world development and Cs in geography and English literature. He will go on to study maritime history at Hull University.
Josh Laidler gained Bs in geography and world development, a C in biology and a D in chemistry.
