A series of events exploring the diversity of the oil and gas industry will be held as part of a unique initiative celebrating the sector’s success.
Organisations and companies across the UK have signed up to stage a series of activities from science, engineering and maths events, specialist workshops and careers sessions to debates, interactive challenges and much more as part of National Oil & Gas Skills Week, which takes place from November 11 to 14.
The programme includes a number of events targeted for students, military career-transitioners and established working professionals in North Shields and Newcastle.
Skills development director Morven Spalding said: “The oil and gas sector is a huge part of the economies in the north and east of England, with companies of all different shapes, sizes and disciplines employing tens of thousands.
“While careers range from the technical engineering offshore roles right through to the supporting onshore jobs like accounting, catering, marketing, legal, human resources or business development, many people don’t associate these jobs with the oil and gas industry.”
