CANCER survivors are being urged to get moving and use exercise to improve their health.

New group sessions will begin in Tynemouth in the new year for cancer survivors, during and after treatment.

The five-week programme will be held at the Park Hotel, starts on Tuesday, January 8, and is run by Louise Parker, an exercise specialist in cancer rehab.

Exercise can help improve quality of life, reduce anxiety, cut some of the side effects of treatment and improve fitness and strength.

There will be a ladies’ class from 9.30am until 11am and a class for men between 11.15am and 12.30pm.

The classes cost £3.50 per person and will follow a circuit style approach where everyone can work at their own level.
