More families are being sought to host international students.

Whitley Bay-based Northumbria School of English is looking to recruit families in Whitley Bay, Monkseaton and Cullercoats to host students visiting the town to learn English.

The school has grown since it started in 2008, winning the Putting North Tyneside On The Map award last December at the North Tyneside Business Awards.

Owner Christine Goodwin said: “Families in the north of England have a great reputation of being kind, friendly and welcoming and our host families are very important to us.

“Now that we are getting inquiries from larger groups, we need more families on board to enable us to expand our offer to students and school groups.”

Any interested families should contact (0191) 252 5265 or email learn@northumbria-school-of-english.co.uk

Christine added: “There is a financial benefit to hosting. But there is more to it than that.

“Our families find hosting broadens their experiences, they enjoy sharing their culture with other nationalities, and in many cases lifelong friendships are developed.

“For our students, staying with a host family gives them a great opportunity to experience a new culture, Geordie hospitality, and improve their English skills.”
