A Whitley Bay family of five has pledged its support to a new charity run taking place in Newcastle this summer.
Lorraine Thomas and husband Andy will join their three sons at the start line of the inaugural CHUF Heart and Sole Run on Sunday, June 15.
The run, which is open to anybody from the age four and up, hopes to get many more families to register and take part together.
The Heart and Sole Run takes place on Paddy Freeman fields in Newcastle, to raise money for the Children’s Heart Unit Fund (CHUF) at the Freeman Hospital.
Lorraine, 43, said: “All the family have done different things for charity in the past, but this is the first time we’ve ever been able to take part together. I think it’s a really great idea to have a charity run which allows for all the family to be a part in the same event.”
The Thomases, who live on Brantwood Avenue, will have their youngest son, nine-year-old Morgan Thomas, in the 1.5km run, while 11-year-old Evan and 13-year-old Mael will join mum and Dad in the 5km run.
There is also a 10km run available to enter too.
