HUNDREDS of children will have the chance to meet their favourite authors over the next two weeks as the 29th Northern Children’s Book Festival gets under way.

Northumberland County Council’s library staff have arranged for three children’s authors and illustrators to visit the county to meet local children to talk about their books and tell stories.

Authors Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore spent the day at Northumberland Church of England Academy in Newbiggin on Tuesday, where the children took part in a group storytelling session.

Together the two Steves have become Britain’s most popular comedy writing and performing double act for young people and have written over 150 books including Action Dogs, Challenger, iHero, iHorror, and Vernon Bright.

They have also written many non fiction books and TV scripts.
