Hundreds of people descended on Wallsend as a popular festival made its return.

Families and visitors were entertained with a host of activities at the Wallsend Festival, now in its 15th year.

Activities and events took place in Wallsend town centre on Saturday, July 4, before more took place on Wallsend Green and at Richardson Dees Park the following day.

There were fairground rides, live music, dance performances, face painting and a range of stalls selling craft, gifts and food produce.

Wallsend Customer First Centre hosted some child-friendly activities including balloon modelling and craft activities while there was a table top craft sale and a display from Wallsend History Society.

A collection of vintage cars took to the streets of the town centre on the opening day.

Visitors to Richardson Dees Park were treated to activities including shows from the 3Sixty Bicycle Stunt Team, a laser battlefield, Just Climb and their 30 foot climbing tower, as well as a range of sports from the council’s Sport North Tyneside team.

There was also be some roaming street entertainers performing circus and magic tricks, tree climbing sessions from Kirkley Hall, and junior archery.
