Two of the UK’s most popular female vocalists will be performing at this year’s Mouth of the Tyne Festival.
Beverley Knight and Alexandra Burke will feature in an outdoor concert on Friday, July 8, the day before Scouting for Girls appear at the annual event.
Tickets are available now for both shows.
Beverley is no stranger to the Mouth of the Tyne Festival, having featured in 2008’s bill, but this will be X Factor winner Alexandra’s first appearance.
Glynis Barrie, North Tyneside Council’s cabinet member for community services, said: “We’re thrilled to announce an exclusive concert which will see not only Beverley Knight returning to Tynemouth Priory to perform with her band, but the amazing Alexandra Burke too.
“It will be wonderful to watch two of the UK’s biggest pop stars performing in the stunning surroundings of the priory and castle. We expect it to be a very special night.
“This concert follows the announcement last week of Scouting for Girls’ performance and means this year’s festival is shaping up to be the biggest yet.”
Alexandra topped the charts with her cover of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah in 2008 and has followed it up with two more No 1s, Bad Boys and Start Without You.
Beverley has notched up 13 hits since 1995, the biggest being Come As You Are, a No 9 in 2004.
The Mouth of the Tyne Festival is a four-day celebration of street theatre and pageants, live music and special one-off performances on both sides of the river.
Tickets for Beverley and Alexandra’s show cost £25, and tickets for Scouting for Girls’ concert cost £20, both plus booking fee.
