A popular Christmas festival will be bigger than ever thanks to a local partnership.

Whitley Bay Big Local Partnership has arranged a host of entertainment to take place at this year’s St Nicholas Festival.

As well as the traditional children’s lantern procession, Christmas markets and the return of the reindeer, visitors to the festival this year will enjoy an array of music and entertainment provided by the partnership.

Live music will be played on Saturday, December 6, between 10am and 4pm at the market stage on Whitley Road, culminating with The Caffreys.

And the partnership is helping to extend the festivities across other parts of the town, bringing street entertainment on to Park View and offering free family photo shoots at its Big Local Shop on Friday, December 5, between 4pm and 7pm.

Sue Miller, chair of the partnership, said: “We are so pleased to get involved with this hugely popular festival.”

Mayor Norma Redfearn added: “We are delighted by the support that Whitley Bay Big Local has given the St Nicholas Festival.”
