A SUMMER festival and music night is being held at an award-winning green ‘oasis’.
The Friends of Brierdene are hosting their Summer Fest and Shanty Night this Saturday at the dene, next to the Briar Dene pub in Whitley Bay.
From noon to 5pm there will be a dog show, children’s pony rides, Northumbrian piper music, Highland dancing display, mat and medieval tile making, ice cream, cake stall, construction of a ‘green man’ face in willow and other attractions.
Admission is free and refreshments will be provided by the scouts.
There will be a Shanty Night in the pub from 7.30pm to 10.30pm, with a grand raffle draw at 9pm.
All money raised on the day will help support the conservation work of the Friends of Brierdene.
