The roof of a house in North Tyneside has been destroyed following a fire.
Firefighters from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service were called to a blaze in Cullercoats today, (Tuesday, June 16).
The Service’s Control Room received a call shortly before 11am to say a fire had broken out at a house in Kendal Avenue.
Two crews from Tynemouth, one from Byker and one from Newcastle Central Community Fire Stations attended the incident.
Firefighters wearing four sets of breathing apparatus put out the fire using three hose reels.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
Watch Manager Mick Mangan, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The roof of the house was well alight and the fire had spread to the roof void which was completely destroyed.
“The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes but it took another two hours to make it safe and check for any hot spots.
“The crews did a fantastic job and worked flat out to save as much of the property as they possibly could.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
