THE St Andrew’s Flower Festival ‘Celebrations’ proved to be a great success.

Organisers said the event ‘brought the community in Monkseaton together’ after many had suffered from the recent heavy rains.

BBC sports reporter Mark Tulip opened the festival.

Visitors said the floral arrangements in the church and the display of art, which was put together by the groups who meet at St Andrew’s in Eastfield Avenue, were a delight.

A wedding dress, made of flowers and created by the Fleurt Flower Shop of Monkseaton was a spectacular attraction.
